Our story
Why Fluttering Wings exists
My mom, Kathy Zingler, fought stage 4 ovarian cancer for four years. My dad was by her side the whole way as her caregiver, and it wore him down. He became depressed. We tried to get him help and couldn't get an appointment. The wait was months.
What finally worked was luck. A nurse mentioned my dad to a counselor whose own wife had cancer. He said, "I'll see him tomorrow."
Most families don't get that lucky. My mom saw the gap before we did: the people caring for someone with a life-threatening illness need support too, and they need it now, not months from now. Fluttering Wings exists to be that call. We connect caregivers with a mental health counselor quickly, at no cost to them, in her honor.
